5. Meryl Streep and memes

However, there were few who wanted to participate in the struggle for this prize: the 2018 Oscars nominees came to the stage and completely forgot about the jet ski and made long speeches.
As a result, the lucky owner of the new vehicle was Mark Bridges, who got the Oscar for best costumes for the film "Phantom Thread".

9. The funniest appearance on stage
Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph made a furor on stage when they announced the winners in documentary nominations. The design of the envelopes was changed to avoid mistakes. The names of the nominations were written so large that it was easy to read even from a far distance.
In 2017, the Oscars organizers mixed up the envelopes. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly called the best film "La La Land" - not "Moonlight", and then corrected. A year later, there were some references to that moment. Jimmy Kimmel asked "What can go wrong?", Beatty and Dunaway were called again on the stage, and Guillermo Del Toro, the director of "The Shape of Water", just in case checked the envelope after the victory.
14. The ceremony actively promoted Disney films
Oscars was translated on ABC channel owned by Disney so the presenter did not hesitate to remind constantly about the "Black Panther" which beats all box-office records but "will not receive such awards".
15. Hearty notes and lunch boxes from Jimmy Kimmel
On average, the Oscars award ceremony takes about four hours. During this time, any person, even a Hollywood star in a dress with a tight corset, will have time to get hungry. So, worrying about the guests, Kimmel ordered to attach lunchboxes to all the seats of the Dolby Theater where the Oscars were held this year.
In the boxes was a small package of chips and cookies. In addition to this, lunch boxes were decorated with illustrations of nine films nominated for Oscars. But what was really touching was that, in each box, Kimmel asked in hand written notes that the stars not to throw these boxes at him if something goes wrong, and also added that the money from each meal went to help the local charitable organization FoodBank, which supplies food to homeless and needy people.
