The presidency has listed some steps taken by the current administration to ensure the safe return of all the missing schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram from their school in Dapchi, Yobe state.
The Presidency Office of Digital Engagement (PODE) in a Facebook and Twitter post on Thursday, March 1, enumerated some of the steps taken to rescue the missing girls to include: Directing the military and police to mobilize immediately to begin the rescue efforts, a visit by the federal government delegation to Dapchi where the abduction occurred, which was followed by another visit by a government delegation to give an update on the search on the missing girls.

Meanwhile, the ongoing search for the 110 girls who were abducted from the Government Girls Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, Yobe state, has been extended to the neighbouring countries, the federal government has announced.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, March 2, the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said top military and security officials on Thursday, March 1, travelled to the northeast to add more urgency to the search, which has now been extended beyond the northeast theatre.
The officials according to the statement, include the nation's top military officer and Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; Chief of Army Staff; Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Alhaji Lawal Daura.
In a related news, a human rights activist, Aisha Wakil, claimed a Boko Haram faction had contacted her to confirm it has the girls.
Wakil, who is also known as Mama Boko Haram, was a member of the Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges Committee in the northern region, set up during the Goodluck Jonathan era.
In an interview with The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the activist said the Barnawi faction of Boko Haram contacted her on Thursday, March 1.
She added that the abductors confirmed to her that the girls were safe, healthy and in good condition.
