Service chiefs hold closed door meeting over Dapchi girls’ kidnap

- Service chiefs met in Maiduguri in Borno state as part of President Buhari’s directive

- They discussed how to end the ongoing war against insurgency

- They denied reports that fishermen and farmers were recruited to help in the fight

In compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directives, service chiefs have relocated to the northeast to take charge of the lingering Boko Haram insurgency in the region.

According to Leadership, the chief of defence staff, Gen Abayomi Gabriel Olanisakin, chief of army staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Yusuf Burutai, chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar and chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas along with the director general Of the State Security Services, Lawan Daura converged in Maiduguri, Borno state on Thursday, March 1.

It was reported that they held a closed-door meeting at the command and control centre of the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole Theatre Command with Maj Gen Rogers Nicholas who is the theatre commander of the operation.

Brig Gen John Agim who is the defence spokesperson spoke after the meeting saying they “reviewed the entire operations of the Operation Lafiya dole with the sole aim of restrategizing the whole operations with a view to rescue the Dapchi GGSTC schoolgirls and the remaining Chibok GGSS schoolgirls as well as ending the nine years Boko Haram insurgency.”

He expressed dismay over report in the media that they recruited the service of fishermen and farmers in the fight against insurgency.

Meanwhile, a report by Daily Trust indicates that a suspected Boko Haram bomber attacked worshipers in a mosques at Fulatari area of Buni-Yadi, Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

According to the report, the incident which occurred around 5:30am has left two people injured and the bomber dead.

NAIJ.com gathered that this is the first time the town is witnessing a terrorist attack since April 2016 after it was liberated by military from Boko haram in 2015.

An eye witness quoted in the report, Bulama, said the teenage bomber attempted to enter the mosque when a worshipper tried to stop her.
