What government must do before we return our children to school - Father of released Dapchi girl

- A father of one of the released Dapchi girls have said that the sad days have been washed away for him

- Mai-sale Gadina said this while receiving his daughter who was among the Dapchi girls returned by Boko Haram terrorists

- According to him, government must secure all the schools in the area before they can allow their daughters go back to school

Hundred and four students of Government Girls' Science and Technical College, Dapchi who were recently released by Boko Haram insurgents have reunited with their parents.

Daily Trust reports that the girls were first received by the commissioner of information for Yobe state, Mala Musti, from a federal government team led by Senator Abba Ibrahim.

The parents further met with their daughters at the school premises in Dapchi, Yobe state.

Speaking while handing over the children to the state government, Ibrahim said: “What happened should not deter you from sending your children back to school. As Muslims, we should consider it as an act of God, and with prayers, God has returned them to us safely.”

Also speaking, Ibrahim Geidam, the governor of Yobe state represented by Musti commended the federal government and President Muhammadu Buhari for his effort in ensuring the safe return of the girls.

On of the girls' parents Mai-sale Gadina who spoke on the reunion said the sad days for them in Dapchi was over.

Gadina said: “The sad days have been washed away today. But, we want government to know that adequate security measures must be taken before we can return our children to school.”

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the police in Yobe state had denied media reports that the command was informed before the abduction of the Dapchi schoolgirls.

The commissioner of police in Yobe, Sunmonu Abdulmaliki, also debunked claims that officers of the force ran away when the insurgents were in town.

Abdulmaliki said the reports were mere speculations and completely false.
