4 motorcycles, AK 47 Rifles, special ammunition recovered from suspected bandits in Benue (photos)

- Nigerian troops of 72 Special Forces Battalion encountered some suspected bandits while on clearance operation

- Seven locally made rifles/ revolvers, nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two handsets and some documents were recovered from the suspected bandits

- Some of the bandits were killed while others escaped into the bush with gun shot wounds

Troops of 72 Special Forces Battalion while on clearance operation on Friday, June 14, encountered some suspected bandits at Kwatan Gyemu.

Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, the director, army public relations, in a statement issued said some of the bandits were killed while others escaped into the bush with gun shot wounds during the encounter.

Four motorcycles were recovered from the bandits.

Also at Okungbo where troops carried out cordon and search four suspected criminals were arrested.

Items recovered include, seven locally made rifles/ revolvers, nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two handsets and some documents.

Similarly, troops of 222 Battalion deployed in operation LAFIYA DOLE on 14 June 2018 embarked on a recovery operation to a forest at Kawuri.

Items recovered include, one AK 47 rifle, four AK47 Magazines, 45 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six rounds of 5.56mm special ammunition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the rifles belong to one Abiso Ali, 37 years and Samaila, 25 years. all from Suraja village who had earlier surrendered to the troops.

The public is reminded to be security conscious at all times and report any suspicious activities or movements to the law enforcement agents for prompt action.

NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigerian Army declared that its troops on Saturday, June 9, killed several bandits and recovered 36 motorcycles from the bandits in Birnin Gwari axis of Kaduna state.

Daily Trust reports that the troops during an operation rescued three men, two women and three children.

The director of army public relations Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu who made this known in a statement said the troops also recovered five handsets and N9,135 only from the bandits.
