Court orders Kaduna state government to stay away from Senator Hunkuyi's house

- The Kaduna state government has been ordered by the state high court to stay away from Sen Suleiman Hunkuyi's house at number 18A, Inuwa Wada road, Ungwuan Rimi, Kaduna

- Senator Hunkuyi is the lawmaker representing Kaduna North senatorial district

- The court said the state government should stay away from the house pending the determination of the case

The Kaduna state high court has ordered that notice of consequence of disobedience of court order be served on the state government for court contempt.

Others served with the notice were Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) and Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Leadership reports.

NAIJ.com notes that the court made this move after KADIR's reminder notice on May 28, seeking payment of N31 million as ground rent from Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi's house.

Recall that the court had ordered the Kaduna state government and its agents from taking any action on the house belonging to the senator representing Kaduna North senatorial district pending the determination of the case.

The property is located at 18A, Inuwa Wada road, Ungwuan Rimi, Kaduna, pending the determination of hearing and determination of motion on Notice.

Despite this court order, KADIRS went ahead to issue another notice in respect of the building located at 18A, Inuwa Wada road, Ungwuan Rimi, Kaduna, with the view to demolish the house.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the senator representing the Kaduna North senatorial district in the upper legislative chamber, Suleiman Uthman Hunkuyi, cried out over what he described as an attempt by the Kaduna state government to demolish his house at Number 18A Inuwa Wada road, Unguwar Rimi, Kaduna.

A bill was sent to the senator’s personal residence in February by the Kaduna Geographical Information Service (KADGIS), informing him of a 24-year accumulated ground rent since 1995 which stood at over N1.4 million. In addition to that amount, Hunkuyi was also slammed with a N30 million fine.
