Ekiti decides: Segun Oni is working with his group for Fayemi's victory - Bamidele

- Kayode Fayemi's campaign director general, Opeyemi Bamidele, says victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress is assured

- He says he has confidence in the leadership of the party in Ekiti state

- Bamidele also says that the former governor of the state, Segun Oni, is working for the victory of Fayemi

The director general of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Opeyemi Bamidele, has expressed confidence that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be victorious in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state.

Punch reports that Bamidele said that he had confidence in the leadership of the party in Ekiti state. According to him, ex-governor of the state, Segun Oni, is working with his group for Fayemi to coast home to victory.

NAIJ.com gathers that the director general said this in a statement signed by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, June 28.

Recall that Oni was said to have filed a litigation in Abuja, seeking the nullification of Fayemi's victory in the party's primary because of his refusal to resign as a minister in line with the party's constitution and guidelines.

Bamidele said there was no need to doubt Oni's commitment to the victory of the APC candidate.

He said: “We are not ruling out the possibility of people having some ill-feelings about certain issues in our party, but that should not degenerate to the level where people can act as fifth columnists in their own party.

“The Ekiti APC can’t be immune from crisis just like every other party because we have diverse backgrounds and our temperaments differ in the way we handle issues. Let me say this, the doors of the party are wide open to entertaining complaints and we will discuss them to the satisfaction of everybody.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Opeyemi Bamidele, urged the people of the state to accept the apology rendered by the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, over perceived infractions while he was in office between 2010 and 2014.

The call was made after a meeting with his canvassers in a post-primary consultation at Iyin-Ekiti during which he urged all other aspirants to fully support Fayemi’s candidature, Vanguard reports.
