- The killings across various states in Nigeria are being sponsored, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity has said

- The presidency said President Muhammadu Buhari's enemies have resorted to the act of discrediting his administration's scorecard on security

- According to Femi Adesina, the sponsors will be caught and made to face justice soon

The special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity has accused the opposition of sponsoring widespread killings across Nigeria.

Femi Adesina while speaking on Arise TV on Wednesday, June 20, said many enemies of President Buhari have resorted to the act of discrediting his administration's scorecard on security.

Adesina said Nigeria's security agencies are already investigating those behind all the killings across Nigeria and will be made to face justice at the right time.

He said: “You have the true herders and farmers who are clashing and you have hidden hostile hands who have crept in under that umbrella to play what the president has described as irresponsible politics."

“This farmers/herders’ clash has been going on for a long time. When I say long time, I mean far long before this administration.

“Like the president said, the issue is even older than anybody living today. What you have today are being sponsored because they know security is one of the strongest points of the administration.

“The president said so in a national broadcast. He also said the security agencies are investigating and has warned that once they are identified, they will be dealt with.

“The intention of the opposition in any democracy is to weaken the incumbent as much as possible and the opposition in Nigeria has identified security as one of the strong points of the Buhari administration. So they decided to go to that area finding the soft under belly and stick a knife into it," Adesinma said.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that some youths in Benue had exonerated President Buhari from all killings in the state.

The Benue Youths Forum said claims in some quarters that President Buhari was sponsoring the attacks in the state is a case of giving the dog a bad name to hang it.

The group also pledged their total support for the ongoing military operation in the state aimed at ending the fast growing spate of terrorism in the Benue valley.
