The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Network for Justice has withdrawn its support for an aspirant for youth leader ahead of the party's national convention scheduled for Saturday, June 23.
The group in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, June 21, said it took the decision due to its determination to ensure Saturday's convention ends peacefully.
They called on the screening committee of the party to immediately make public the list of disqualified candidates in order to guide youth delegates to the convention on their voting patterns and choices.

Part of the statement read: “We hereby withdraw our support for an aspirant for youth leader, Malam Mohammed Hamadama Ali and call on the Masari committee to immediately make public the list of disqualified candidates to guide youth delegates in line with the rules of the party.
“Any compromise to the screening guideline will spell doom to the whole struggle for genuine enthronement of youth participation in our party national working committee.
“President Buhari is known as a mantra of truth, justice and fair play hence imposing candidates whose credentials is not in line with the vision of the party and the screening guidelines will be tantamount to sacrilege to the person of the president.
“We appeal to the Governor Masari-led screening committee never to compromise rules and for that we guarantee peaceful convention and the emergence of people oriented national executive members.
“Our commitment to free and fair convention is unshakeable and we appeal to other party members to do the same for a peaceful convention and demonstration of genuine preparation for 2019 election."
