- Four lawmakers in the Imo state House of Assembly have been suspended for alleged misconduct
- The lawmakers suspended were those representing Senator Ifeanyi Araraume’s constituency and that of the deputy governor of the state, Eze Madumere
- Also, Governor Rochas Okorocha has set up a reconciliation committee to unite warring factions in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state
Not less than four members of the Imo state House of Assembly were on Wednesday, June 27, suspended for alleged “unparliamentary conduct” as one of the reasons given for the suspension.
The lawmakers affected by the suspension were Ifeanyi Nnataonye, the member representing the Imo deputy governor’s constituency; Isiala Mbano, Chiji Collins, the lawmaker representing Senator Ifeanyi Araraume’s constituency; Nkenna Nzeruo, Oru east and Uche Oguwuike, Ikeduru, Vanguard reports.

Moreover, a committee headed by Lawman Duruji was set up to investigate the allegations levied against the lawmakers.
Marcel Ekwezuo, the chief press secretary to the speaker of Imo state House of Assembly, confirming the development stated: “A committee has been set up and headed by Mr. Lawman Duruji. They will come up with their report to know the next line of action.”
Meanwhile, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state on Wednesday, June 27, through his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, revealed that Senator Emmanuel Agboti from Ebonyi state had been appointed chairman of the peace and reconciliation committee, for the southeast region of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okorocha also said that Macdonald Akano was appointed to head the reconciliation team in Imo state.
The press release said: “The South-East APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee is headed by Senator Emmanuel Agboti from Ebonyi State, while the Imo State APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee is headed by Prince Macdonald Akano.
The committees were expected to ensure that warring factions within the APC in the South-East are brought together. The governor also told his audience that there would be a mega victory rally in Owerri on July 3, 2018 by APC members in the South-East and the rally would be tagged, “South-East for Buhari.
“The rally would also be aimed at re-directing the mindset of Ndi-Igbo in the current political dispensation to join the national ideology. This very rally will have so many governors in attendance with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as a representative of the President.

“The idea is to promote the ideals President Buhari stands for and ensure that Igbos are not left out again. The rally will also rebuild all broken bridges with the North and Western parts of the country and position Ndi-Igbo better.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that the Imo APC stakeholders forum had pleaded with the party's National Working Committee (NWC) to intervene in the crisis currently rocking its ranks.
Oke Ikoro, the chairman of the forum, made the plea on Wednesday, May 2, in Abuja when a delegation of the forum visited the NWC.
