Police arraign man for allegedly impersonating former IGP's son

- The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned one Afeez Smith for impersonating

- Smith was accused of impersonating former IGP Musiliu Smith's son

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Ondo state command, has arraigned one Afeez Smith before an Ondo chief magistrates’ court, for impersonating the son of a retired Inspector General of Police (IGP), Musliu Smith.

Smith was arrested by the police and brought before the court on a five-count charge of fraud, stealing and unlawful possession of property.

Daily Trust reports that Smith, arrested for claiming to be a biological son of a former IGP and present Chairman, Police Service Commission, Musiliu Smith, was also accused of obtained N750,000 from one Fabode Akinsola under the guise of supplying a Toyota Corolla car to the victim.

He was said to have used the name to defraud members of the public in Ondo town, including policemen.

He pleaded not guilty to all the five-count charge. Police Prosecutor, Olagbayi Bernard asked for a short adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble all his witnesses to prosecute the case.

Magistrate B.F Ajibade granted the accused bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to July 4, 2018

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has arrested one Felix Idowu for allegedly impersonating its acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 2, spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspect was a real estate agent and graduate of political science.

Uwujaren said Idowu was found with documents which had the forged signature of the EFCC boss, and would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
