Some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed four members of a family in Kai village in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state, according to a confirmation by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The public relations officer in the state, DSP Terna Tyopev, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, June 21, in Jos, the capital of the state.
NAIJ.com learnt that Tyopev said the incident occurred in the night of Wednesday, June 20, and that it was reported to the division by one Maren Mahan.
Tyopev identified some of the victims as Dauda Mahan, 54; Mangai Agwom, 46; Christian Mangai, 15; and John Mangai, 10.
“On receipt of this information, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the division visited the scene of crime for an on-the-spot assessment,” he said.
He said the bodies of the deceased were recovered and deposited at the mortuary of General Hospital, Barkin.
Tyopev said investigations to track the perpetrators were ongoing.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that about 29 persons were killed after gunmen launched a deadly attack in Plateau state.
It was reported that the attack took place on Monday, October 16, in Nkyie Dongwro village which is located in Miango district of Bassa local government area of the state.
This attack is coming just 24 hours after six people were killed in a late-night attack on Ta’agbe village.
