- Rochas Okorocha and his deputy are in for a showdown ahead of the APC national convention
- Eze Madumere and his principal are said to be at the verge of their final battle
- The party's group in diaspora had advised delegates to elect a choice candidate who would not distract President Muhammadu Buhari's plans
The governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, and his deputy Eze Madumere are said to be at the verge of their final battle before the All Progressives Congress' national convention.
The duo are in battle to the control of the party's structure in Imo state.
Vanguard reports that an APC group in diaspora had advised delegates to elect a choice candidate who would not distract President Muhammadu Buhari's plans.
However, the advise might be thrown to the winds as there are two factions - the Okorocha’s faction of APC executive led by Chris Oguoma and Madumere’s group with Hillary Eke as its chairman.
Sources in the state their grievance is that Eke was inaugurated by the outgoing national chairman of the party, John Oyegun.
One of the major issues also contributing to the conflict within the state party was the alleged “unity list” produced by APC governors in order to have consensus candidates for the various positions at the convention.
It was gathered that Okorocha who is fighting the deputy governor’s group is said to be plotting to replace the national organizing secretary, Osita Izunaso.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that some stakeholders of the APC in Imo had declared that they have made Governor Okorocha politically irrelevant.
The stakeholders said the move is in their determination to rescue the party from imminent collapse in the state.
One of them, Theo Ekechi, said the stakeholders had overwhelming evidences against Okorocha.
Ekechi said he had made it impossible for the governor to get attention from any quarter in the state and in the southeast region.
