Ekiti Transition Committee members know where the money is buried - Fayemi gives insight into newly constituted 32-member team

- He said the committee members were carefully chosen because of their knowledge of the Ekiti Civil Service and because they know where the money is buried

- He also reiterated his call to Governor Ayodele Fayose to prioritise payment of salaries

Dr Kayode Fayemi, governor-elect of Ekiti state, has stated that his recently constituted Governorship Transition Committee is not his cabinet-in-waiting.

He made the disclosure while inaugurating the 32-member committee, Punch reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that the committee is chaired by Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, a former member of the National Assembly; with Abiodun Omoleye, a former chairman of the Ijero local government council, as deputy.

The secretary of the committee is Ayodeji Ajayi, a former permanent secretary in the state’s Civil Service.

Fayemi stated: “The people were carefully chosen because of their knowledge of Ekiti Civil Service and because they know where the money is buried.

“This is not the face of Ekiti cabinet that is coming, so no one should begin to draw permutations.”

He added: “We must hit the ground running when we are sworn in October.”

He said the committee is expected to submit a far-reaching report which would serve as a guide for the incoming administration.

Fayemi further admonished all civil servants to cooperate with the committee; not in the interest of individuals, but in the interest of the state.

He also reiterated his call to Governor Ayodele Fayose to prioritise payment of salaries, with the recently released N5.52bn June federal allocation.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Dr Kayode Fayemi assured workers in the Ekiti state that he was not contesting the election to revenge against them.

Fayemi said that his unfinished business of taking away poverty from the state was the major reason for his coming back.
