Manchester United Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho has rated his defender Eric Baily highly and expects the Ivorian to stay long at the Premier League.

According to a Daily Star report, the Special One is not in the best of mood following the Red Devils not too decent performance in their pre-season tour of the United States of America.

Mourinho has taken time out to express his concerns with the Red Devils squad, some players as well as unfinished transfer issues.

However, the ex-Chelsea manager seems satisfied with the contributions of Bailly so far.

The ex-Villarreal centre-back was not in the good books at the Old Trafford side due to injury problems in the final weeks of last season

Despite all the issues levied against Bailly, the Ivorian is now fighting his way back to the starting XI and his performances has caught the fancy of Mourinho who personally applauded the defender.

Speaking at a news conference in the US, Mourinho rated the Ivorian highly.

“He is a team boy, he is a great boy.

“He is an honest man, always ready to give everything for the team.

“That is why we have him, why we still have him and why he is going to stay with us because football teams need people like him.

"Like Herrera; this kind of people where the club is more important than anything else.”

Reacting further, the Portuguese manager also faulted the duo of Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial for their poor inputs to the team’s progress.

"Antonio Valencia comes from holiday – I think too much holiday for him. His condition was not good when he was back, then an injury," Mourinho told MUTV.

"Anthony Martial has the baby and after the baby is born – beautiful baby, full of health, thank God – but he should be here and he is not here."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Leicester City are set to double Harry Maguire's wages to £95,000 a week as compensation for blocking his move to Manchester United, The Sun quoting The Mirror.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign the center-back but the King Power chiefs are holding out for at least £60m.

And tensions between the frustrated United manager and chief executive Ed Woodward could see the deal break down.
