The Kano state deputy governor, Hafiz Abubakar on Monday, July 30, petitioned the police and State Security Service (SSS) over threat to his life and plans to impeach him followed by the impeachment of the Speaker Yusuf Atta, Punch reports.
In the petition, addressed to the state police commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, copied to the assistant inspector-general in charge of zone one and the state director of SSS, the deputy governor, prayed for the deployment of more security operatives around him.
He accused the state government of disbursing funds to mobilize youths from the 44 local government areas of the state to protest against his continued stay in office.

A loyalist to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the deputy governor has for quite some time being at loggerheads, with the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that members of Kano state House of Assembly voted to impeach the speaker of the house, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ata.
21 lawmakers have signed in support of the impeachment and a source confirmed that already the principal officers of the house had been impeached having got the 21 lawmakers to sign for their impeachment.

The source said: "We have already impeached the principal officers by having 21 lawmakers sign for their impeachment and we are needing only six members to make the requirement of 2/3 to impeach the speaker."
In a related development, the speaker of the Kano state House of Assembly, Abdullahi Yusuf Ata was impeached. According to reports, the speaker was impeached on Monday, July 30, alongside two other principal officers.
The impeachment plan was hatched after the 40-member Assembly resumed from its two-month recess.
The member representing the Warawa constituency, Labaran Madari, raised the impeachment motion, which was seconded by the lone member of the PDP, Abdullahi Muhammed.
