Eight aspirants have declared their interest to contest for the Kaduna state governorship seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The aspirants, including a former governor, Ramalan Yero, said the alleged failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state to meet the yearnings and expectations of the people of Kaduna prompted them to aspire for the governorship seat, Channels TV reports.
When submitting the letter indicating his interest to contest at the state’s PDP secretariat, Yero told reporters that his decision was informed by the concern of the people of the state.

“This decision was informed by the genuine concern of our people and the numerous calls l have received to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election of our dear Kaduna State.
“Having considered the plight of my people, l have consulted widely with my family members, key party stalwarts, political associates and other party faithful and have come to the conclusion to grant the wishes of my people by declaring to contest the gubernatorial elections,” Yero said.
Others politicians contesting for the PDP ticket include a former member of the House of Representatives, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi; former director general of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Isah Ashiru and a former commissioner in the state, Mohammed Sani Bello.

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly queried the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, for allegedly producing a conducive environment for its members to defect recently.
The party’s NWC asked Saraki to respond within 48 hours to its query as to why disciplinary action should not to be taken against him for breaching article 21 of the constitution of the party.
Vanguard reports that the party’s query took the decision in a resolution signed by the national secretary of the party, Mai Maila Buni.
It claimed that the senate president had allegedly flouted the laws of the party with his activities.
