Emmanuel Bwacha, the deputy minority leader of the Senate and representative of Taraba South on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is only comforting itself over a recent mass defection.

Bwacha said the APC was merely claiming that the recent defection of many members of the National Assembly would not affect its chances in the 2019 general elections.

Vanguard reports that Bwacha spoke in Jalingo explaining that the recent mass defection was a process of transformation that was gradually altering the power of cohesion in both chambers.

“In 2014, when members of PDP moved to APC, we said they are inconsequential, downgrading the leaders who are actually powerful individuals in their respective places.

“These leaving APC are leaders elected by people in their various places and cannot be written off. They (APC) are only saying this to comfort themselves, so others will not be demoralized,” he said adding that he had been receiving congratulatory messages from people addressing him as deputy majority leader.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Senate president Bukola Saraki dumped the pp Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was contained in a statement he released on Tuesday, July 31.

The senate president accused some elements in the APC of making peace and cooperation difficult in the party.

He described himself as a democrat who is committed to the progress of the country.

Saraki said he believed the PDP has learnt its lesson and has confidence in the party to do what is best for Nigerians.

NAIJ.com also reported that a former Senate president of Nigeria, Ameh Ebute, has reacted to the gale of defections that hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently saying politicians are taking such actions because political parties in the country lack ideologies.

Ebute spoke at the launch of Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria (GOGAN).
