Breaking: Kwankwaso to officially declare his plan to run for 2019 presidency on Wednesday, August 29

A former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso is set to officially announce is plan to run for 2019 presidency on Wednesday, August 29.

Punch reports that the Senator representing Kano central will join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP's) presidential list at a rally which will take place at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

A statement by the Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign Committee on Sunday, August 26, said dignitaries from all walks of life would be expected at the rally.

The statement said: “It is imperative for us to embark on massive infrastructural turnaround across the country with the judicious management of the nation’s resources without necessarily mortgaging the future of the country on excessive foreign loans and its attendant burden.”

"He added that he would eliminate insecurity in all its forms across the country and return Nigeria to the path of prosperity.

“Dignitaries from all walks of life from across the country and the Diaspora are expected to attend the declaration,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that to strengthen his moves for presidency, Kwankwaso, had on Tuesday, July 24, visited the Abuja residence of Alhaji Sule Lamido.

Kwankwaso embarked on the visit, 30 minutes after he led 13 other senators to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the red chamber.

The Senator and Lamido were close allies while they both held sway as governors of Kano and Jigawa states respectively.
