- Football lovers attack BBC for mocking Arsene Wenger on social media
- The former Arsenal manager received an award from Liberian president
- President Weah was one of Wenger's signing while he was Monaco's coach
Football fans around the world have raised eyebrows on the BBC for mocking Arsene Wenger after he was being honoured by his former player and now Liberia president, George Weah.
The former Arsenal manager was given the West African state's highest honour by president Weah after contributing to his success as a footballer.
However, the British based media subtly insulted the 69-year-old Frenchman with the headline: "Arsenal's ex-coach Arsene Wenger finally wins a medal, thanks to Liberia President George Weah."

Kris acknowledged the importance of how Wenger used football as an instrument in making his player become a leader and believed the BBC mocked the entire continent with the headline.
Patrick Timmons also stressed how Wenger defied the odds using the sport to fight against racism but frowns at how the British media outlet made mockery of the fairy tale story.
