It's a lie - Kano government reacts to deputy governor's allegation of threat to life

- The Kano state government has denied that there is a threat to the life of the deputy governor

- The government said the allegations by the governor is false

- The government added that the deputy governor was recently at a State Executive Council meeting with fewer security aides

The Kano state government has condemned a statement by the deputy governor of the state, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, alleging threats to his life.

The Kano government described Abubakar's statement as false and embarassing.

The Punch reports that the commissioner for information, Youth and Culture, Malam Mohammed Garba, in a statement asked the deputy governor to make a choice to quit or remain in the government.

The statement reads: ”To prove that the allegations made by the deputy governor were false, he was at yesterday’s State Executive Council meeting, with fewer security aides.”

The commissioner for information, however, added that despite numerous unguarded comments by the Deputy Governor, the Government continued to accord respect and support for his office.

Recall that the NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Kano state deputy governor, Hafiz Abubakar on Monday, July 30, petitioned the police and State Security Service (SSS) over threat to his life and plans to impeach him following the impeachment of the speaker Yusuf Atta.

In the petition, addressed to the state police commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, copied to the assistant inspector-general in charge of zone one and the state director of SSS, the deputy governor, prayed for the deployment of more security operatives around him.

He accused the state government of disbursing funds to mobilize youths from the 44 local government areas of the state to protest against his continued stay in office.
