Mixed reactions from Nigerians as Saraki leaves ruling party for PDP

- Some Nigerians in their reactions to the defection of Bukola Saraki said his going is a good thing to the APC

- Other Nigerians were happy with the news of the defection because it might weaken the ruling party

- NAIJ.com had earlier reported the news of the senate president's defection

After weeks of political permutations, expectations and defections, Bukola Saraki, Nigeria's senate president has finally decamped from the ruling All Progressives party (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and this particular defection has brought about mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Interestingly, the reactions that followed Saraki's exit from the APC ranged from outright jubilation from some sections of Nigerians to ironic acceptance by another section.

Nigerians who hailed the senate president's decision to jump ship claimed the APC led federal government has failed Nigerians and as such, deserved to be abandoned by a politician of Saraki's calibre.

One of such Nigerians who appreciated Saraki's defection is Anujuo Okechukwu. In his reaction to the news, he praised Senator Saraki for the decision to quit the APC.

"You shall leave long the game changer Abubakar Bukola Saraki," he prayed excitedly. "You took a brave decision. Respect sir. Extend my greetings to Dino the only senator who is fearless before his enemies. Ooo my home Ooooooo my home ,when shall I see my home....Respect," he added.

However, not all Nigerians praised the senate president for his actions. Some of them see his defection as a good thing for the APC. They said his going will help reposition the ruling party.

Salihu Abubakar Salihu summed the mood of those who were glad that the senate president decamped from the PDP in his comment on the news.

"Safe journey as we remain with PMB," he wrote. "The elites that are tempering with our future are running away from PMB and this alone is a reason why we must stick with him," he added.
