Premier League giants Manchester United target former Real Madrid manager as Jose Mourinho's replacement

- Red Devils chiefs are profiling former Real Madrid boss Zidane as Jose Mourinho's replacement

- The Portuguese tactician has been complaining all summer with most of his target yet to find their ways to Old Trafford

- And the club's executives are scared he might not see out the remainder of his contract with his current disposition

Manchester United are reportedly planning to replace their manager Jose Mourinho with three-time Champions League winning coach Zinedine Zidane if he leaves.

The Portuguese tactician has been recently signed a two year contract and the Red Devils chiefs are not sure of him seeing out the two years left on his contract.

United got hammered 4-1 in their last preseason friendly over the weekend with most of their key players still on summer holidays after participating at the 2018 World Cup.

However, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid handler has been pessimistic over the performances of the players, such that the attitude was already affecting the mood of the squad.

According to the Sun, sources close to the Old Trafford outfit claims that Zidane will be the first option they will hire should their current manager leave the club.

The former Los Blancos manager will not be a hard knock to crach for the Premier League side as he has no ties with any club after walking out on Real Madrid following his spectacular hat-trick of Champions League feat.

Zidane tops the list of high- profile bosses that the Red Devils are considering as a replacement for their present manager if they part ways in the course of the 2018-19 season.

Mourinho after losing heavily to Liverpool sent a plea to his key players to cut short their holidays but it appears none of them is ready to heed his call.

Also, the Portuguese manager complained that none of his five targets have arrived to bolster a squad that failed to win a trophy and finished second in the Prem — 19 points behind Manchester City.

Brazil midfielder Fred is the only arrival who will compete for a first-team place, with right-back Diogo Dalot a prospect for the future and keeper Lee Grant a back-up.

His negative disposition during the pre-season tour in the United States are a continuation of last season’s public outbursts at his own players.

He admitted he risked losing the dressing room by blasting his squad — and some players are now convinced this will be his last campaign.

Last season ended on a sour note when Mourinho said striker Romelu Lukaku ruled himself out of starting the FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea.

He further accused the striker of “hiding” in Belgium's World Cup semi-final defeat to France, while the Portuguese was working as a pundit.

He will also be under pressure to finally get the best from £89million Paul Pogba after he starred for World Cup-winners France — in contrast to hit-and-miss displays for United.

Mourinho, 55, could now be forced to start the Premier League season against Leicester next Friday without some of his top players, who are still on holiday after Russia.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Manchester United top players are concerned about their manager Jose Mourinho ahead of the 2018-19 league season.

The Red Devils were hammered 4-1 by Premier League arch rivals Liverpool in the International Champions Cup over the weekend.

Though with the absence of most of their key players who have been given extended summer holidays due to their participation at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
