Real Madrid star Luka Mordic broke Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's dominance for the first time in a decade after being crowned the FIFA best player of the year.

However, the awardees were selected based on voting from national team coaches and captains as well as a number of journalists.

For the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, the German tactician voted the Croat as his best player of the year.

Followed by French teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea forward Eden Hazard - who won bronze medal at the 2018 edition of the FIFA tourney.

Meanwhile, captain John Obi Mikel voted for Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Luka Modric in that arrangement to win the award.
