Imposition: PDP will fail in Kogi - stakeholder warn

- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been warned against imposing candidates in Kogi state

- Kabir Yusuf alleged that there are attempt to give automatic tickets to some National Assembly members from the state

- He said all aspirants should be given a level playing field to take part in the party’s primaries

Hon. Kabir Yusuf has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against imposing candidates on the party in Kogi state. He said such move would have negative effects on the party.

He said this on Sunday, September 2, while addressing journalists in Lokoja over alleged attempt to give automatic tickets to some National Assembly members from the state.

He said: “All aspirants should be given a level playing field to take part in the party’s primaries. PDP national leadership should know that any attempt to impose candidates on the party, would amount to pouring fuel on a flame.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi state was said to have fallen into crisis following an alleged move by a former governor, Ibrahim Idris, to install his sons and aide as the sole candidates to fly the flag of the party in 2019 general elections.

Vanguard reported that some respected stakeholders of the PDP in the state have described Alhaji Idris’ moves as a wicked plot to run the party down.
