Panic in Uyo as ex-Super Eagles star faints after being punched by a player

- 3SC coach Edith Agoye collapsed on the pitch after being punched by a player

- The incident happened during the NNL fixture between Akwa Starlets and 3SC in Uyo

- Agoye joined the Ibadan-based club as an assistant coach in 2013

Former Super Eagles ace and 3SC coach Edith Agoye fainted on the pitch on Saturday, September 29, 2018, after he was attacked by the opposing goalkeeper at the Akwa Ibom stadium Uyo.

According to 3SC official Twitter account, the 42-year-old Agoye was allegedly knocked on the head by the opposing goalkeeper, Franklin Akwari moments after the Nigeria National League fixture against home side Akwa Starlets ended in a barren draw.

However, the timely intervention of medics at the venue, to help save the life of Agoye, who was unconsciousness immediately he was punched.

The report further revealed that other officials of the Oluyole Warriors, equally, received various degree of injury from the attack.

Interestingly, the one-capped ex-Eagles star Agoye alongside his former teammate Wasiu Taiwo joined Shooting Stars SC in 2013 an assistant coach.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that the Nigerian football fraternity have been thrown into another mourning following the death of former Flying Eagles and Stationery Stores of Lagos defender Collins Ebitimi.

The 54-year-old who was a legend as far as Nigeria Professional Football League is concerned was said to have slumped in front of his house in Ikorodu, Lagos on Wednesday, September 26. Collins Ebitimi became famous in the Nigerian topflight football when he helped Stationery Stores of Lagos to win the Nigerian Premier League title in 1992.

He also captained the team to the semifinals of the 1993 African Cup of Champions Clubs which is now CAF Champions League.
