Recession has only ended on pages of newspaper - Woman cries out after robbery attack

- Unknown persons described as robbers have allegedly made away with pots of soups stored in a canteen

- The incident occurred during the early hours of September 18 at Fagba area of Lagos State

- The owner of the canteen named Testimony Kitchen, revealed she had stored cooked food just the night before to cater for her early customers

The residents and environs of Adejonwo close, off Jonathan Coker road in Fagba area of Lagos State were thrown into an unprecedented frenzy when the owner of Testimony Kitchen cried out over the theft that had happened while people were asleep.

It was gathered that unknown persons described as robbers broke into the canteen just before dawn and made away with pots of soup. The owner of the food place revealed that she had prepared some soups overnight and stored them in the canteen, so she could better carter for early morning customers.

To her surprise, during the early hours of September 18, she found her shop had been burgled and food items were missing. Disappointed and disoriented she narrated her ordeal to customers who had stopped by to patronize her just before going about their daily business.

A neighbour identified as Mrs. Ayodele Adebayo revealed to The Guardian, that she had witnessed about four similar incidents, concluding that a lot of people are hungry and recession has only ended on the pages of newspapers.

She said: "I have witnessed four similar incidents in the past few weeks. People are hungry and what they have resorted to is breaking into people’s shop to steal foodstuff, soup and meat. If you catch them they will explain to you that they are hungry and have no other option. The family who stole my co-tenant’s food was even asking whether they could still get more to eat. It is that bad. People are really hungry. Recession has only ended on the pages of newspapers.”
