The minister for transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, and the senator representing Rivers southeast senatorial district, Magnus Abe, of conspiring and plotting to defame him.
Amaechi, who was a former governor of Rivers state, claimed that both Wike and Abe have conspired to hire two ex-commissioners who served in his cabinet to present distorted stories and fake text messages to ruin his image.
The Nation reports that the minister stated this on Friday, September 21, in an online statement by his media office.

He said: “I am aware that two former commissioners who served in the State Executive Council when I was governor have been procured by Wike and Abe, jointly and collaboratively, to carry out the hatchet job of ‘hack Amaechi down’ campaign. The plan is to throw as much dirt at me as possible and rubbish my image.
“While one (former commissioner) is being coached in Rivers state Government House (Port Harcourt) of what to say to the press and how to say it, to do maximum damage; the other one is busy distorting, concocting and fabricating fake screenshots, text messages, documents and all sorts in Senator Abe’s Freedom House campaign office in Port Harcourt; that they intend to release to the media to tarnish my image.
“I want to alert the media and members of the public of the smear plot by these two political collaborators (Wike and Abe) to unjustly discredit and smear me for their selfish political reasons.”

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor Wike accused the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of being the architect of the crises rocking the state's chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike, in a statement signed by his commissioner for information and communications, Emma Okah, also accused Amaechi of forcing the APC in Rivers to adopt indirect primaries.
The governor's comment is a reaction to an alleged statement by Amaechi, where he reportedly accused Governor Wike of sponsoring APC members to cause confusion ahead of 2019.
