A foremost property magnate and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Chief Owolabi Kola Balogun has won the party's ticket to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
Balogun defeated three other candidates in the elections to emerge victorious. One of the candidates is Segun Sowunmi, the spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Organisation.
Declaring the results of the primary elections, the returning officer, Barrister Tunde Adesanya stated that Balogun scored 126 votes out of the total 148 votes cast to defeat his challengers; Sowunmi, Pastor Bioodun Ajayi and Akin Okuronmu
In his acceptance speech,Balogun expressed his appreciation to party leaders and delegates for the trust reposed in him, promising not to let them down.
He then extended his hand of fellowship to his co-challengers urging them to support him in the struggle to bring positive development to Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

Meanwhile, front-line presidential aspirant on the platform of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2019 presidential election.
Olawepo-Hashim, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the PDP, won the ANN’s ticket at the party's national convention and presidential primary election held on Wednesday, October 3, in Abuja with 593 delegates in attendance.
The convention ratified his candidature through a voice vote following the earlier withdrawal of another presidential aspirant, Alhaji Ibrahim Eyitayo Dan-Musa.
