Army ambushes Boko Harm insurgents in Borno; several terrorists killed, six soldiers injured

- Six soldiers were injured on Friday, October 12, during an ambush on Boko Haram insurgents in Borno

- Scores of the terrorists were also neutralized during the ambush, while others escaped with various degrees of injury

- The injured soldiers are currently receiving medical attention at a military facility

The Nigerian Army says six soldiers were injured while repelling Boko Haram terrorists in an ambush at Arege area of Borno state on Friday, October 12.

The development was made public by the director of public relations, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, on Saturday, October 13, The Nation reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that the Army spokesman said scores of the terrorists were neutralized during the ambush, while others escaped with various degrees of injury.

He further disclosed that one vehicle was recovered from the terrorists, while three gun trucks were destroyed by the troops.

He said: “Unfortunately, six soldiers sustained various degrees of injury and are currently receiving medical attention at the military facility.

“The public is once again reminded to report any suspicious movements or activities in their areas to the law enforcement agents for prompt action.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that troops of Sector 3, Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), while on fighting patrol to Gara village in Northern Borno on Friday, October 5, 2018 encountered suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

In a statement signed by the Army's director of public relations, Texas Chukwu, the Army said five terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, following the superior fire power of the troops; while others escaped to a nearby bush with gunshot wounds.
