Governor of Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has reportedly threatened to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The new development came after the National Convention of the party which was held on Saturday, October 6, in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.
Punch reports that the outgoing governor disclosed this on Monday, October 8. He was quoted to have said that he would renounce his “membership of the PDP anytime from now”. He added that: “After consultations, I will speak clearly to Nigerians.”
NAIJ.com had reported that former vice president Atiku Abubakar polled 1,532 to clinch the PDP presidential ticket.

Other aspirants were governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal; governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa.
Others are the president of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki; a former president of the Senate, Senator David Mark; a former minister of special duties and inter-governmental Relations, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and a former governor of Plateau state, Senator Jona Jang.
Also in the race are, a former governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; a former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido and Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Atiku Abubakar, a businessman served as the second elected vice-president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Ekiti governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja dismissed an application by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the recount of ballot papers used in the July 14 poll.
The PDP and its candidate, Prof. Olusola Kolapo are challenging the outcome of the election in court.
