A video of sensational singer Small Doctor recently trended on social media where he was performing during the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) convention in Abuja. He performed for party faithful which included President Muhammadu Buhari.

While on stage, the singer sang one of his popular songs in putting President Buhari’s name. He sang: “Buhari, ye ma sun, gba ko je (Buhari, stop sleeping).” But this particular phrase has put the singer in trouble as many felt he was singing against the president.

The song has now become an anthem used by the opposition party and this has made the management of the singer to come out to address the issue of the trending video.

A member of the management team of Temitope Adekunle, also known as Small Doctor has reacted to a viral video. A member of the team, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Small Doctor was not worried when he saw the video, as he knew it was not politically motivated.

He explained further that: “Small Doctor didn’t do anything unusual while performing at the event. He was there to entertain everyone, which he did. It was not the first time he would be performing the song and we have the video of the event on our devices too. The reaction of President Buhari when he was performing was different from what people saw in the video. They must have edited it.”

He revealed that rather than be condemned for the song, most of the delegates present hailed Small Doctor after his performance. He said:

“After Small Doctor performed, everyone enjoyed it and he went to greet some of the delegates, including governors and senators. He couldn’t have greeted Buhari because he was far from him. You can tell that the video was politically masterminded.

“When the video first came out, people were saying Buhari was not dancing to the performance. Suddenly, they changed the conversation and said Small Doctor called out Buhari. He didn’t call out anyone; he was there to entertain and not to abuse anyone.

“The people that invited us understand that he is an entertainer. Since they didn’t see it as a problem, we didn’t see the need to respond to the report or claim. If Small Doctor had come out to react to it, it would mean he did something bad. When he (Davido) called him a legend for telling Buhari to stop sleeping, we understood what was happening.”

NAIJ.com had reported that most Nigerians know how much Davido expelled a lot of energy to support his uncle, Senator Adeleke during the Osun governorship campaign. Most fans even praised him for being loyal and supportive of his uncle's political career.

While people admired the singer for his courage and commitment towards seeing his uncle succeed in the elections, a certain friend of the singer, identified as Olu Ricky had a different opinion. In a post, where Ricky commented, he condemned Davido's uncle, blaming the senator for ruining his chances as he didn't show up for the Osun governorship candidates elections.

Unfortunately for Olu, Davido saw the comment and didn't hesitate to express his displease over what he perceived as betrayal. An angry Davido also lashed out at Ricky and called him a fraudster, accusing him of being a fake friend.
