A shockwave swept through Egypt in the afternoon of Friday, November 24, as a bomb blast occurred in a mosque sending at least 235 people to death, the UK Guardian is reporting.
The attack, one of the deadliest to be witnessed in the country, was reportedly carried out by a suic*de bomber while a set of militants were said to have opened fire at a mosque in the country’s restive northern Sinai province

The report quoted sources as saying the attack actually targeted supporters of the security forces attending prayers at the scene.
It was carried out with four off-road vehicles which arrived at Al Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed, near Arish city while the sermon was ongoing. Those who tried to escape were gunned down.
Though the state media claims that the death toll is 75, witnesses say it could be up to 115.

The report said no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but noted that Egypt had been home to “a vicious Isis-affiliated insurgency in the Sinai since 2014.”
NAIJ.com earlier reported that that in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the setting up of an intelligence fusion centre in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, for the purpose of gathering and sharing intelligence among the security agencies in the country.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement Wednesday said the centre will also be used to tackle the desperate actions of Boko Haram terrorists in the north-east, especially through the use of mostly female, underage girls as bombers.
