Chelsea gaffer, Antonio Conte, has been charged with misconduct by the Premier League FA after he was sent to the stands during the Blues 1 - 0 win over Swansea on Wednesday evening, November 29.

Conte, 48, was sent to the stands in the 43rd minute of the Premier League clash following an argument with the fourth official and referee Neil Swarbrick.

After ranting and raving on the touchline, Swarbrick had no option but to sent the Italian off — his first dismissal in English football.

The 48-year-old has until 6pm on December 5 to respond to the FA and will be hit with a £8,000 if he accepts the lowest-level charge.

Conte apologised for his actions after the game, which Chelsea went on to win 1-0 thanks to an effort from a rather unlikely source, Antonio Rudiger, and revealed what he said to the referee.

The Chelsea gaffer said: "The problem is I was frustrated because the opponents were wasting time,"

"I tried to tell this to the fourth official not only once but a few times.

"But I have apologised because I did the wrong thing.

He added: "I have been in to see them after the game. It's right to speak and apologise with them.

"I don't know if it was fair [to be sent off] but we have to respect this decision.
