The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has announced plans to open constituency offices in all 52 wards of his Kwara Central Senatorial District.

NAIJ.com gathered that the Senate president announced this on Sunday, December 24, while meeting with various stakeholders from across Kwara Central and the state as part of his end-of-year constituency interaction activities.

“In the history of Nigeria, this is the first time that a political officeholder will be opening up this many constituency offices.

“This is about bringing governance closer to you, the people,” the Senate President said, while addressing a cross-section of his constituents on Sunday evening, “I want to ensure that the effects of our legislative empowerment programs are felt in every household.”

Saraki also announced that each of the new constituency offices will be staffed by four staff, chosen from the community.

“This will help to create more opportunities for each community through monthly empowerment programs that will begin in January 2018. It will also ensure that there are direct feedback mechanisms in place at all times,” he said.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that members of the Kwara South Unity Forum (KSUF) in Kwara state claimed to have initiated a recall process against the senator representing the Kwara South Senatorial District, Dr. Rafiu Ibrahim.

The group alleged that the senator takes order from the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on issue concerning his constituency.
