- The Super Eagles nominated for 2017 African team of the year by CAF
- AFCON 2017 winners and runner up Cameroon and Egypt also nominated
- The Nigeria women's U-20 team also nominated for the women's team of the year
CAF has announced the top three nominees for the men and women's national team of the year with the winner to be announced at the 2017 CAF awards ceremony.
The nominees were unveiled at a ceremony on Monday, 18 December 2017 in Accra, Ghana.
The ceremony was attended by CAF President Ahmad, CAF First Vice President Kwesi Nyantakyi, CAF Executive Committee member, Amaju Pinnick, with Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, the Guest-of-Honour.
Cameroon who won the 2017 AFCON in January are nominated alongside Nigeria who became the first African nation to qualify for the World Cup and Egypt who were AFCON 2017 finalist and second team to qualify for the World Cup.
