Reigning Spanish and European League champions Real Madrid on Thursday night, January 18, moved a step closer towards reaching the last four for this year's Copa Del Rey after beating Leganes 1-0.
Real Madrid however broke a three-game winless streak thanks to Marco Asensio who scored at the death to give Los Blancos the victory.
The hosts had impressed in their maiden appearance at this stage of the competition with Jose Naranjo and Claudio Beauvue forcing good saves from Kiko Casilla with Madrid appearing toothless in the absence of star forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

But both teams failed to register any goal in the first half in a tension soaked encounter played at the Estadio Butarque.

Leganes fans were thinking their team would end the match without a defeat, but Marco Asensio broke their hearts when he scored in the 89th minute after being set up by Theo Hernandez.
Marco Asensio's goal against Leganes was his first goal in 10 games as Real Madrid won 1-0 with the return leg of the quarter final scheduled to hold next week Wednesday.
