- LA Galaxy president Chris Klein denies link with Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic
- He says the 36-year-old still has a running contract with the Premier League outfit until end of the season
- Meanwhile head coach Sigi Schmid believes signing the former Barcelona player will boost his team's performance
Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy are nowhere near signing out-of-favour Manchester United striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic according to the club’s president, Chris Klein.
The former Paris Saint Germain goal king has only managed five appearances for the Red Devils this season with one goal to his credit following the arrival of Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku to the Old Trafford last summer in a deal worth about £75million.
But despite the plea of the players to bring the 36-year-old former Barcelona and AC Milan forward to the StubHub Center Carson, California, the club’s president insisted that the club would rather avoid talking about it because the player still has contract with his Premier League side.
“We're nowhere,” he said.

“We wouldn't comment on it. We wouldn't [confirm that]. It's unfair, because he's contracted to another club.”
The Swede, who signed a one year contract extension last summer with the Red Devils at the expiration of the initial one year he signed when he joined in 2016 still has about five months till his current deal runs out this summer.

And he will be hoping he can compete for a starting spot after returning from the knee injury he suffered in December that kept him out of action for close to two months, and also the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.
Having finished 11th on the MLS table last year, LA Galaxy coach, Sigi Schmid says signing a big player like Zlatan can boost the performance of his team for the new season.
“If it happens, it happens, and once it happens, then we'll give thought to it,” he said. “Right now, it's preparing the group that I have and preparing the group that I have to win games.
“He's a big player. Big players have an impact on your team, whether that's Zlatan or whether that's [Leo] Messi or a Neymar – guys like that have an impact on your team."
Also welcoming the signing of the Sweden international is former Barcelona star Giovani dos Santos, who says Ibrahimovic is one of the best player in the history of football, adding that such player would be valuable to their team if he chooses to sign for them.
“I don't know if it's going to happen,” said Dos Santos. “I respect him. I think he's one of the best players in history, you know, the greatest striker.
"A player like him, I think, is welcome in every team.”
Norway international striker Ola Kamara added: “I know that guy is an incredible presence, and it's one of the biggest players in the world."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic started his professional career with Swedish topflight side, Malmo FF in 1999 and scored 16 goals in 40 appearances in his two-year reign at the club.
After his first breakthrough on home soil, the 36-year-old signed for Ajax Amsterdam in 2001 where he won two Dutch League titles.
Having conquered in the Netherlands twice in three seasons, he continued his journey in Italy with four Serie A titles after which he featured for Barcelona, AC Milan and then Manchester United with at least two titles at every club he has played for.
