Former Manchester City coach Mark Hughes has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino who was sacked at Southampton.
The hammer of Southampton chiefs fell on Mauricio Pellegrino on Monday, March 12, as the club reacted to their 0-3 loss against Newcastle United.
Mark Hughes is an experienced Premier League coach and Southampton chiefs are eyeing a move for the 54-year-old Welshman with 8 games to end the season.
Hughes is sixth on the Premier League list for matches managed behind Arsène Wenger, Sir Alex Ferguson, Harry Redknapp, David Moyes and Sam Allardyce.
Out of Southampton's 8 remaining games this season, only 3 of these fixtures will be played at home in which two of those are against Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Saints are currently occupying 17th position on the Premier League standings with 28 points from 30 games.
