- Nigeria beat Poland in one of their international friendly games on Friday, March 23, with Victor Moses scoring the only goal of the encounter

- Meanwhile, they will be clashing against Serbia on Tuesday, March 27, in London as their preparations for the championship continues

Nigeria technical adviser Gernot Rohr has insisted that his side are still ‘a work in progress’ despite beating the Polish national team 1-0 in an international friendly game.

Chelsea star Victor Moses scored the only goal from a spot kick to help the Super Eagles continue their fine form as they continue their preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Having qualified for this year’s edition of the championship without losing a game in the qualifiers, the three-time African champions came from two goals down to beat Messi-less Argentina 4-2 in Krasnodar last November.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian national team are set to battle Serbia at the Hive Stadium in London on Tuesday, March 27, and the German born tactician says he will use the friendly games to assess his team.

However, Rohr admits that World Cup matches are a lot more different from the kind of opposition they face in test games, but insisted that they will keep working hard to ensure they near perfection before the tournament kicks off in June.

"We've seen a lot of good things and some things we must work on before the World Cup in Russia," Rohr said.

"Friendly matches provide a great opportunity to see everything about your team.

"It is not really the same as a World Cup game. Our preparation is still a work in progress to be ready.

"We know winning friendly matches could give us false hope but we want to keep working hard," he added.

The win over Poland is expected to boost Nigeria’s confidence following their victory over a sixth ranked team in the world.

Nigeria will battle Argentina for the fifth time in the global championship, having met four times in their last five appearances at the tourney.

The West Africans open their Group D campaign against Croatia on 16 June, and then clash against Iceland on 22 June before finishing with Argentina four days later.

Following their debut appearance in 1994, the three-times African kings will be participating at the in the tournament for the sixth time.

While Gernot Rohr’s men will be hoping they can surpass their round of 16 personal record – having crashed out of the championship at the knockout stage in 1994, 1998 and 2014 but crashed out at the group stages in the 2002 and 2010 editions.
