Embattled Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed his wards following their impressive victory over AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday night, March 8.

Recently, the Frenchman has been criticized for the Gunners' lackluster performance this season in the Premier League.

Arsenal were beaten in the final of the EFL Cup by Manchester City and they are also out of the 2017/2018 English FA Cup.

But the Gunners redeemed themselves on Thursday night at the San Siro with a superb win over Italian giants AC Milan.

"It is an important win of course after we had a nightmare week. Overall it is important to win, but it is not qualification.

"Arsenal have to finish the job at home. I am happy with the spirit and response we gave.

“We were not in a position to take risks, but we could not be too cautious as you lose fluidity. We defended with resilience until the end.

“When you play in a cup final it is hard to digest in a few days. When you are knocked down like a boxer you don’t have time to react and you are only halfway up, but you have to respond.

"Your pride and desire to show quality has to come through in the game.” Wenger was quoted to have said by Daily Star UK.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how North London club Arsenal defeated an in-form AC Milan side 2 - 0 at the San Siro in their Europa League round of 16 clash.

The Gunners came into the clash from a very poor run of form that saw them lose four games on the bounce, which include a back to back 3 - 0 defeat to Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey scored the two goals that condemned AC Milan to a defeat.
