32 Boko Haram members reportedly surrender to Army as 2 civilians die, 3 sustain injuries in Bama

- The insurgents willingly surrendered and one of them handed over his weapon with ammunition

- Nigerian Army says they are currently being questioned before being handed to the right authorities

- In another battle with Boko Haram, the Army says a soldier was injured while some civilians died in another development as troops repelled insurgents

Not fewer than 32 Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly willingly surrendered to the Nigerian Army troops at different locations in the theatre Borno state.

PR Nigeria reports that one of them was Mallam Ibrahim Lawal handed over one AK 47 rifle with two magazines containing 59 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition.

The report said the surrendered insurgents are undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities thereafter.

In a separate development, Army spokesman Texas Chukwu reports that troops of 112 Task Force Battalion deployed in operation LAFIYA DOLE on Saturday, June 30 while on clearance patrol to Anadawa village of Borno state killed five Boko Haram terrorists following a tip off.

He listed the items recovered as:

a. One AK 47 rifle.

b. One magazine.

c. Four rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition.

d. Four Dane guns.

Meanwhile, troops foiled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists at Banki in Bama local government Area of Borno state.

The Army however reports that unfortunately, two civilians lost died while three others were injured. An AK 47 rifle was recovered from the terrorists during the encounter.

Earlier, NAIJ.com reported that troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in their effort to combat terrorism in the country killed three Boko Haram members during an encounter in Monguno local government area of Borno state.

The incident happened on Friday, June 28.

One soldier was injured in the attack while the weapons used by the terrorists were recovered.
