Lagos is having an August visitor this July as the president of France Emmanuel Macron will be visiting the centre of excellence in his first ever journey to Nigeria as president.
Macron is expected in Lagos on Tuesday, July 3, and he will be hosted by the Lagos state government at Femi Kuti’s African Shrine.
According to statement released by the Lagos state government, for security purpose, a section of the Ikeja axis will not be accessible to Lagosians as movement will be restricted there. There will be a traffic diversion between the hours of 12 noon and 12 midnight.

“Ahead of the historic visit of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron to Lagos, the State Government on Sunday announced that there would be traffic diversion and restricted movement from 12 noon to 12 midnight on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, around the Alausa, African Shrine/Agidingbi axis.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Salaam in a statement appealed for the understanding of residents, urging motorists to make use of alternative routes provided.
“While we regret the inconvenience that this might cause the public, especially those who live and work in the area, we appeal that you kindly bear with us during this period and make use of the alternative routes provided,” Salaam said.
Macron is expected to be hosted by the Lagos state government at the African Shrine on Tuesday.

NAIJ.com gathered that Macron will seek to address a joint session of the National Assembly. The ambassador of France to Nigeria, Denys Gauer, during a visit to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday, February 6, said Macron has interest in the future and development of Nigeria.
Gauer said Macron had worked in the French embassy in Abuja early in his career for six months some years ago.
