Ekiti election: List of how police deploy 30,000 officers to each local government

- Nigeria police has explained how 30,000 personnel were deployed for the July 14 Ekiti state gubernatorial election

- The force spokesperson said 4 police officers were deployed to each polling unit

- In total, police say it deployed 14,700 personnel to all polling units

The police spokesperson in Ekiti state, Ikechukwu Caleb, has revealed the breakdown of how 30,000 officers were deployed to various local governments in the state for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

The deployment of over 30,000 officers to the state has generated a lot of controversies as many are of the opinion that the deployed personnel are too much for a state election.

Ikechukwu who made the disclosure during a brief chat with NAIJ.com correspondent in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Friday, 13 July, also showed our crew where some of the aerial helicopters to monitor the election were being refueled.

Numbers of wards in Ekiti state - 177

Number of personnel to be deployed to polling units - 14,700

1 unit of PMF personnel in each L.GA - 1008

1 unit of PMF personnel in each Area command - 252

Armoured personnel carrier (APC) - 5

Amoured personnel vehicles (APV) - 10

Patrol vehicles - 300

Explosive ordinance - 30

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that despite all the controversies surrounding the forthcoming election in Ekiti state and most especially the heated discussion it has generated on social media, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital of Ekiti state, on Thursday, July 12, was calm and quiet.

NAIJ.com observed residents of the state capital moving about their daily duties normally without the usual clusters of people in newspaper stands or in some corners of the city as obtainable in previous elections in different locations in Nigeria.
