Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to sell Chelsea for a record fee of N926.3bn

- Roman Abramovich has put his darling football club Chelsea for sale for £2billion

- The Russian billionaire has recently been having problems with the British government

- Abrahamovich earlier in the year rejected a bid from Britain's richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has put Chelsea up for sale with a price tag of more than £2billion, it was claimed last night.

This follows the Abramovich's oligarch’s dispute with the British government in recent months over his visa status.

The enormous figure demanded for Chelsea would smash the world record fee for the sale of a football club in history.

If purchased, it would nearly triple the most expensive takeover in history — the Glazer family’s £790million purchase of Manchester United in 2006.

According to The Sunday Times, the Raine Group has been hired to assist with the deal and will seek interest from China, the US and the Middle East.

The investment bank also helped Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi owners to flog a 13 per cent stake to Chinese investors for £1.9billion.

Abramovich is said to have rejected a £2billion bid for his Stamford Bridge outfit from Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier in the year.

The 51-year-old Russian, who has an estimated fortune of £9billion, recently acquired Israeli citizenship amid his visa row in Britain.

He also stopped plans for a new 60,000-capacity stadium for the Blues that would have cost an estimated £500million.

Once renowned as big spenders, Chelsea’s transfer dealings this season have also been slowed down significantly compared to their rivals.

Abramovich has been in charge of Chelsea since taking over in July 2003 when he bought the west London club for £140million from Ken Bates.

Under his ownership, the club have won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup five times.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported Sheik Mansour, cousin of mega-rich Manchester City owner, made an attempt to buy Liverpool in an audacious £2billion bid, according to reports.

He is part of the ruling Abu Dhabi family and was said to have met Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group over a period of months in late 2017.
