Homeless man sues couple who helped him raise N145m

- A homeless man in the US is currently suing a couple who helped him raise over $400k to help him

- According to reports, he is alleging that the couple kept the money for their personal use

- The couple revealed that since the man is addicted to abusive substances, giving him the money would be destructive to him

Identified as Johnny Bobbitt, he became an internet sensation after he gave his last $20 to a woman identified as Kate McClure, when her car ran out of petrol. This good deed earned him social media popularity as Kate and her boyfriend, Mark D’Amico shared the news.

The couple started a an online fundraiser for him, which drew contributions from over 14,000 donors. The donations was said to have amounted to over $400k. However, Bobbitt is claiming Kate and her boyfriend have kept some of the monies to themselves.

Following these accusations, Bobbitt has gone on to file a lawsuit in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Burlington County against 28-year-old Kate and 39-year-old Mark. According to the couple, Bobbitt was given part of the monies but have refused to release any more.

However, Bobbitt is said to be a substance abuser. According to reports, his addiction has relapsed and he is back on the Philadelphia streets panhandling for money after completing two stints in rehab.

According to the The Inquirer, D’Amico revealed that he controls the money but would rather “burn it in front of him” than give Bobbitt the remainder of the funds. Giving Bobbitt the money would be like “giving him a loaded gun,” since Bobbitt is addicted to substances.
