Aspirants planning to contest the senatorial position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi west senatorial district have been told on Saturday, August 25, that there will not be automatic ticket for any candidate.
This was the outcome of a stakeholder's meeting held at the residence of General David Jemibewon (rtd), a former governor of old Oyo state and a member of the board of Trustee of the party.
According to the party, this is geared towards guiding against impunity and ensure that every contestant is given a sense of belonging.

Tribune reports that aspirant vying for the seat include the incumbent, who recently defected to the party, Dino Melaye, the member representing Yagba federal constituency in the house of representatives, Sunday Karimi and his colleague from Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency, Tajudeen Yusuf.
Others are a former acting governor of the state, Clarence Olafemi, Tolorunju Faniyi.
Going further, the party called on new members to be ready to participate in a free and fair contest with the older members of the party, assuring them of a level playing field during the primaries.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi west district at the National Assembly disclosed Senate president Bukola Saraki will be there for four years.

“I want to assure you that they can’t and will never have the number to remove the Senate president.” He said lawmakers in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly would resist any attempt to unseat the Senate president through crooked means."
