At a meeting in presidential villa, the Kyari was said to have assured a delegation led by president of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, that President Buhari will address the concerns of labour upon his return to the country from the United Nations General Assembly. But NLC president, Wabba, has said that the decision to suspend the strike does not rest entirely on the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the NLC, adding that other organs of both NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) were involved.

The various organs of organised labour are said to have met to review the government position and may reach a decision to suspend the action soon.

Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike if the federal government fails to implement the 2017 FGN/ASUU agreement.

Lawan Abubakar, the Bauchi zonal coordinator of ASUU, at a news conference in Jos on Thursday, September 27, expressed surprise that the federal government has yet to implement the various agreements aimed at revitalising public universities, as agreed in 2017, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Abubakar regretted that only 7% of the total 2018 budget was allocated to the education sector, and called for the immediate release of the N20 billion revitalisation funding.
