2019: Ohanaeze Ndigbo counters Ebonyi governor; urges Igbos to support Atiku/Obi ticket

- The Ohanaeze Ndigbo group has urged Igbos to support the Atiku/Obi ticket for the 2019 elections

- The group’s president, Nnia Nwodo, made the appeal in response to the feeble opposition of the Ebonyi state governor, Chief Dave Umahi

- Nwodo urged Igbos to let bygones be bygones and accept Peter Obi, in order to move ahead politically

Igbos in Nigeria have been asked by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo group to accept the choice of Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state, as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 elections.

The appeal was made by the president general of the group, Chief Nnia Nwodo, during an interview with Vanguard on Saturday, October 13.

NAIJ.com gathers that Nwodo made the appeal in response to the feeble opposition of the Ebonyi state governor, Chief Dave Umahi, who stated that south-east leaders were not consulted before Atiku picked Obi as his running mate.

Nwodo said: “As the national president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, I am a father to all the political parties. My appeal is that Igbo leaders in the PDP should let bygones be bygones and accept whoever has been nominated. We should not upset the applecart.

“We should accept Peter Obi so that we can move ahead, politically. This is both my prayer and appeal.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Igwe Innocent Obodoako, the traditional ruler of Agulu in Anaocha local government area of Anambra on Saturday, October 13, praised the choice of former governor of the state, Peter Obi as running mate to PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Obodoako stated that Obi, who hails from Agulu, was a right choice for the party.
