Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wins first trophy after stepping down as Gunners boss

- Arsene Wenger led former Premier League stars to win inaugural Petrolex Kanu Cup

- They defeated African Masters 9-4 with the French man taking charge from the second half of the game

- He left his position as the Gunners boss in May after ending his 22-year-reign with the Premier League club

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made a victorious return to coaching after guiding Premier League Masters XI to a 9-4 victory over African Masters.

The Frenchman served the Gunners for 22 straight years where he won three Premier Leagues and seven FA Cup titles - not excluding seven Community Shields.

He took charge of the EPL Masters team in the second half after the game ended 3-1 in the first half and powered them to a massive win in the concluding part of the game.

The victory ensured the 68-year-old lifted the inaugural Petrolex Kanu Cup - being his first trophy since the 2017 FA Community Shield.

Some former EPL stars who graced the charity match to aid the Nwankwo Kanu Heart Foundation include, Sol Campbell, Robert Pires, Jens Lehmann, Lauren, Emmanuel Eboue, Kolo Toure, Wiliam Gallas and the conveyner Kanu Nwankwo.

This was Wenger's second coaching comeback this summer - he was in charge of a Fifa 98 team which were beaten 3-2 by a France 98 side in June.

Wenger has however made it known that he is not retiring from football anytime soon - adding that he wants to take top managerial job.

Last week he revealed he had not watched a single game since Spaniard Unai Emery took charge of the club which he transformed when he arrived in 1996.

The Petrolex Kanu Cup in association with Masters Football aims to raise money for the Kanu Heart Foundation and provide children in Africa with life-saving heart operations.

The French man stepped down from his position at the Emirates Stadium earlier this summer after pushing the Gunners to the semifinals of the Europa League tourney.

His last season with the north London side was without silverware and also finished outside of the top four teams on the log.
